I have finally found a LITTLE time to hurry and update the blog! Yay!
I did not think it would be this challenging going from just having one little human to hang out with all day to two! Wow! It is definitely more time consuming that is for sure.
When people say that with their kids they barely even have time to shower, the old me would think, oh come on, everyone has time for a shower, but the new me, the mom of now two little girls, she says its so true. I literally cannot find the time, and when I do, if Josh's isn't here, it happens very fast. lol.
I love it though. I can't help but wonder what it would be like with Kaizen here too though. I guess that will never change.
So, the one phrase I think of when thinking of Kamzlin's birth story is... "Well that escalated quickly" Lol! Seriously it was fast. But I am thankful it was.
So on May 28th, her birthdate, Josh, Kanzis, and I had plans to go to the chiropractor that morning which is about 30 minutes from our home. I woke up and was having contractions but they weren't painful and not at all consistent. This has happened before so I wasn't too worried. But for some reason I had a feeling that I should stay home. So Josh and Kanzis went to the chiropractor without me. I baked some muffins and cleaned the house. I was still having contractions but they still weren't as consistent as I would have liked. I talked to Josh and he was on his way back home which made me feel better if something was going to happen. By the time he got home, I was getting ready and had started timing my contractions because they felt like they were getting a little stronger. They were starting to become consistent at 5 minutes apart. Josh asked if we should go to the hospital and I said I wasn't sure yet. And then just like that they became stronger and closer and I told him that yes I think we should go now. I called the hospital to let them know it was time and we headed out. Thankfully we had everything packed and ready to go! My contractions were very intense at this point and were three minutes apart. We dropped Kanzis off with Josh's mom and headed to Salt Lake.
The ride to the hospital was aweful. It seems like all I was looking at was that dang clock and dreading when it became the three minute mark! Josh dropped me off at the entrance of the hospital and I walked to the OB emergency. That wasn't easy, I had to stop a few times. It was about 5:30 p.m. at this point. They checked me in and I changed into my gown. Josh finally made it to the room and the nurse came in to check my dialation. I was at a 6 and almost 100% thinned. My mom and sisters were on there way. My contractions were very strong and even closer now. At about 6:30p.m. my water broke. The nurse checked me again and I was at an 8 and completely effaced. They walked me over to Labor and Delivery, which, oh man was not easy. At this point I was feeling like I needed to push, in fact on the walk over to Labor and Delivery I had to squeeze my legs together during a contraction. lol (funny now, not then). Once we got to Labor and Delivery I sat on the edge of the bed. Josh was doing counterpressure on my knees during each contraction, I have to say I am so thankful for him being there and supporting and helping me. I love him so much. My sister was massaging my lower back during the contractions too. I was needing to push very bad and asked them to check me again. I was at a 9 so they said I needed to try to not push and just work through a few more contractions. Hardest. thing. ever! But I tried to breathe through a few more contractions without pushing, and then I just said okay I need to push now. They checked and I was at a 10!! Horray! Everybody got ready and after about 5 pushes little miss Kamzlin was here. Healthy.
Natural birth is definitely not the picnic I had in mind. I am thankful it was fast, that was probably the worst physical pain I have ever endured in my life. But the prize, it was perfect. she was perfect.
A few hours after her birth, Kamzlin had to go to the nursery and be on oxygen for a little over 24 hours. Everything looked fine, she just had a little liquid in her lungs which is what was making her oxygen levels go down a little. They told us it was most likely due to her coming out of the birth canal so fast that there wasn't enough time for all the liquid to squeeze out during her birth. After they removed the oxygen they monitored her for 12 hours to make sure her oxygen stayed up and then we got to go home!
My mom had Kanzis so we went to her house to pick her up. We videod her reaction of seeing her sister for the first time. Melted my heart. Then we went and took pictures at Kaizen's headstone.
I feel so blessed to be a mommy of three! Some days have been challenging. Trying to balance attention for both kids is harder than I thought. Especially during breastfeeding. But I know it will get easier. It will be fun for them when they can play together. But for now I am taking in this newborn phase, I know all too well that it doesn't last long.
Father's Day weekend we had our Judd Family Reunion camping trip! I will do another blog post soon with all the fun from that! :)
Happy Thursday! :)
